Annual Christmas Party
Each year, Act 6 Board Members host a Christmas party the second Thursday in December that is open for all to enjoy. We serve on average 250 traditional Christmas meals. There is an arrangement of Christmas treats, candy, fruit, cookies, pies and cakes. Along with warm weather clothing and personal care kits.
Our guest of honor, Santa, visits with each willing child, who is able to speak in several languages, allowing children to communicate in their native tongue. After each child shares their wish, Mrs. Claus gives them a candy cane.
Each child gets a age appropriate toy, book, stuffed animals and/or puzzle, and now we have the ablitity to facilitate to those in need the Toy’s for Tot’s program.
This last year was challenging, however, we created a Drive-Thur Christmas Party. We put all the goodies mentioned in handmade bags sewn by women throughout Box Elder County and beyond distributing them by our dedicated volunteers to each vehicle.
The response to help the soup kitchen pull off a Christmas party during a pandemic was amazing. Many of the seamstress donated the material, sewing 20 to 50 bags each. Village Dry Goods donated material, countless donors offered blankets, hats, gloves, scarfs and a Officer with the County Sheriff gave large bags of toys. We were Blessed with fabulous books from a publisher facilitated by Amy Hall. The Rotary Club who has been a Community Partner for several decades brought as they do each year socks, gloves, and hats and helped with filling each bag we gave out. Volunteers from all over Box Elder came to help box the food to be served. Together as a team, we served 407 meals, 127 bags of toys and 400 men, women, teen, child, baby hygiene bags that included warm weather clothing, shampoo/conditioner, toothpaste/brush, combs, hair ties, lotion, sanitizer, washcloths, candy bags, and United Way resources.
If this isn’t exciting enough, the true excitement is being in a Community who helps us throughout the year to fulfill our mission. We are truly grateful.
